Introducing WeStroke Team Rider Ben Ghertner

We here at WeStroke are super excited to introduce you to our new WeStroke Team Rider, Ben Ghertner! Ben is an up and coming whitewater kayaker who is charging hard. Displaying serious skills in both playboating and creeking, this is one name you will want to remember.  

I could go on and on about how much mad skillz Ben has for such a young age already but I'll let the man speak for himself for a moment:

"I'm 18 and have lived my whole life in Nashville, TN.  I started kayaking when I was 11 years old with boy scouts. That summer my dad took me to the NOC where we took a beginner clinic, and I was hooked.  From there every year I paddled more and more and this past year (2012) I paddled around 100 days on whitewater and several more on flatwater.  My favorite part about kayaking is probably getting to explore new rivers.  Over winter break I ran 11 different rivers of which 8 where new to me.  I started competing in 2011, competing in freestyle competitions.  In 2012 I competed in three major competitions, the NOC Shootout, the ICF World Cup and the Teva Mountain Games.  I now live to kayak and I can't wait to start creek racing this year and to take my kayaking to the next level.  I am also planning on attending college next year in Portland OR and am excited about exploring new rivers out there.  I attached a resume with some more specifics and some pics i can answer any other questions you might want to ask.  I look forward to paddling for Westroke."

Ben really is an amazing Class V kayaker and an all around great guy on and off the water. We are super stoked to have him onboard as part of the WeStroke Team and we can't wait to watch him progress even more in both playboating and creeking.
